Big Blue Bus offers transportation assistance and discount programs to seniors and persons with disabilities, including curb-to-curb, shared ride service in lift-equipped vehicles, at low or discounted rates.
Reduced Fare TAP Cards
Older adults age 62+ or individuals age 18+ with a disability may be eligible for a reduced fare TAP card. Reduced fare TAP cards are accepted on Big Blue Bus, as well as Metro Bus and Rail, and other TAP participating agencies in Los Angeles County.
Eligibility Requirements for Senior TAP Card
- California ID, driver's license, or passport
- Current photo
- TAP card or account
Eligibility Requirements for Disabled TAP Card
- California ID, driver's license, or passport
- Current photo
- Proof of disability (one of the following)
- Medicare card
- Valid California DMV Placard receipt
- Disabled Veterans ID
- Proof of student enrollment in a LA County special education program
- Proof of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits

Mobility On Demand Every Day
Big Blue Bus has partnered with Lyft to introduce Mobility On Demand Every Day (MODE), the City of Santa Monica's shared-ride service for older adults and persons with disabilities.
The MODE program provides members with greater options for freedom and mobility, by offering curb-to-curb, on-demand transportation, convenient payments, and much more.
