MEDIA ALERT: Big Blue Bus 4073May 24, 2018 This afternoon Big Blue Bus #4073 traveling westbound on 1-10 experienced a mechanical failure that resulted in a fire. This occurred near the Bundy Dr. exit in the City of Los Angeles. We can confirm that the Operator helped all customers evacuate safely including herself and everyone was moved to a safe location. An alternate bus was deployed and all passengers were soon back on their route to their destinations. The Los Angeles Fire Department was at the scene and expertly handled the situation. There is a fire suppression system on every Big Blue Bus that is engineered to engage when the sensors detect a fire-or even pre-fire conditions-in the engine compartment. At this time, we are not clear on what occurred and we are conducting a thorough investigation into the cause.
