Service Changes

Service Changes Begin August 9, 2026

Beginning Sunday, August 9, service improvements designed to make riding easier, faster, and more convenient go into effect! Riders will benefit from expanded service hours and enhanced access and connectivity on multiple routes serving the UCLA campus, UCLA Medical Center, and Westwood/Rancho Park Metro Rail E Line Station.

These enhancements are part of our ongoing Brighter Blue service improvement plan, which focuses on making public transit a more appealing alternative to driving and supports Santa Monica's commitment to a cleaner, greener future.

Route 1 Main St & Santa Monica Blvd

Enhanced connectivity to the UCLA campus and UCLA Medical Center.

Route Change:

  • Buses no longer serve Hilgard Terminal. All trips now begin/end at UCLA C.E.Y./P2, seven days a week.  

Schedule Change:

  • Service now runs earlier and ends later on weekdays, with eastbound trips operating between 5:21 a.m. and 11:06 p.m. and westbound trips operating between 5:10 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

New Stop:

  • SB Westwood Plaza & UCLA Medical Center (after the intersection)

Discontinued Stops:

  • EB Le Conte Ave. & Tiverton Ave. (before the intersection)
  • NB Hilgard Ave. & Manning Ave. (before the intersection)
  • NB Hilgard Ave. & Westholme Ave. (before the intersection)
  • UCLA Hilgard Terminal
  • SB Hilgard Ave. & Manning Dr. (after the intersection)
  • WB Le Conte Ave. & Tiverton Ave. (after the intersection)
  • NB Westwood Blvd. & Le Conte Ave. (before the intersection)

Route 2 Wilshire Blvd

Enhanced connectivity to the UCLA campus and UCLA Medical Center.

Route Change:

  • Buses no longer serve Hilgard Terminal. All trips now begin/end at UCLA C.E.Y./P2, seven days a week.  

Schedule Change:

  • Service now runs earlier and ends later on weekdays, with eastbound trips operating between 6:00 a.m. and 8:20 p.m. and westbound trips operating between 6:15 a.m.  and 9:00 p.m.

New Stops:

  • SB Westwood Plaza & UCLA Medical Center (after the intersection)
  • SB Westwood Blvd. & Kinross Ave. (before the intersection)
  • WB Kinross Ave. & Veteran Ave. (before the intersection)
  • NB Veteran Ave. & Kinross Ave. (before the intersection)
  • EB Kinross Ave. & Veteran Ave. (after the intersection)
  • NB Westwood Blvd. & Kinross Ave. (after the intersection)

Discontinued Stops:

Route 8 Ocean Park Blvd

Enhanced connectivity to the UCLA campus, UCLA Medical Center, and the Westwood/Rancho Park Metro Rail E Line Station.

Route Change:

  • Buses no longer serve Hilgard Terminal. All trips now begin/end at UCLA Gateway Plaza, seven days a week.

Schedule Change:

  • Updated trip times throughout the day for improved connections and shorter wait times for service from UCLA to Westwood/Rancho Park Metro Rail E Line Station.
  • Service now runs earlier and ends later on weekdays, with eastbound trips operating between 5:21 a.m. and 11:06 p.m. and westbound trips operating between 5:10 a.m.  and 11:00 p.m.

New Stops:

  • Westwood Plaza & Stein Plaza Driveway
  • NB Westwood Plaza & Strathmore (after the intersection)
  • SB Westwood Plaza & UCLA Medical Center (after the intersection)

Route 9 Pacific Palisades

Schedule adjustments for express service from Palisades Charter High School to Downtown Santa Monica to enhance rider convenience and align with school bell schedule.

Schedule Change:

  • Southbound weekday express trip times now depart Palisades Charter High School at 2:53 p.m., 2:56 p.m., and 2:59 p.m. on regular school days.

Route Change:

  • More direct service to/from the Expo/Sepulveda Metro Rail E Line Station.

New Stops:

  • EB Exposition Blvd. & Sawtelle Blvd. (after the intersection)
  • NB Sepulveda Blvd. & Exposition Blvd. (after the intersection)
  • NB Sepulveda Blvd. & Pico Blvd. (after the intersection)

Discontinued Stop:

  • NB Sawtelle Blvd. & Exposition Blvd. (after the intersection)

Enhanced connectivity to the UCLA campus and UCLA Medical Center.

Route Change:

  • Buses no longer serve Gateway Plaza. All trips now begin/end at UCLA C.E.Y./P2, seven days a week.

Schedule Change:

  • Service now runs earlier and ends later on weekdays, with eastbound trips operating between 6:20 a.m. and 7:40 p.m. and westbound trips operating between 6:35 a.m.  and 7:55 p.m.

  • SB Hilgard Ave. & Westholme Ave. (after the intersection)
