Interagency Transfers

Need to ride more than one bus or train to reach your destination? An interagency transfer (IAT) can help you get where you need to go! IATs are exclusively available on TAP, which allow for paperless transfers on Big Blue Bus (BBB), and all other TAP-participating agencies. IATs are valid two and a half (2.5) hours from the time of purchase and can be used to board one (1) additional Metro Bus, Metro Rail, or most other regional bus lines*.

Tips about transfers on TAP:

  • Sufficient Stored Value must be loaded onto your TAP card to pay for the transfer fare.
  • One paid base fare allows you one single-use transfer.
  • Transfers only cover the base fare and cannot be used to pay for another transfer.
  • You will be required to pay the full fare on the third trip of your journey, or after the transfer has expired.
